Sunday Folk Night

Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering: 6:45pm Everyone—welcome Jam, 7:30pm -10:00pm All-evening Celtic Concert! Norway House, 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the door (No Open Stage Tonight) Music from the Celtic tradition has been part of Canadian Folk Music since long before the VFMS began meeting 50 years ago. Tonight we will be showcasing musicians and balladeers from our island Folk community playing selections from the rich body of Celtic music found in our midst. You will hear tunes and songs from places as varied as Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, Brittany, and the Isle of Man as well as Canadian music that has been inspired by the Celts. The evening’s talented lineup includes Willowgrove (Nancy Grossert & Brad Johnson), Lanny Pollet & Denis Donnelly, Tia Greenwood & Max Francis, Otter’s Holt (David & Barbara Denz), Terry Boyle & Josh Miszczak, Na Mara, Q, Gary Cohen, and Shinndig! The evening will feature a variety of traditional instruments including fiddle, guitar, Irish harp, whistle, flute and, of course, vocals.
