EARL LEE, conductor TERENCE TAM, violin BRIAN YOON, cello Tchaikovsky: Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture Saint-Saëns: The Muse and the Poet Dvořák: Symphony No. 9 “From the New World” In advance of Valentine’s Day, we share three heart-felt musical depictions of love: the tragedy of Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers from the pen of Tchaikovsky; Saint-Saëns’ romantic, poetic musings in an inspired dialogue between two soloists; and the nostalgic longing for home experienced by Dvořák. Korean-Canadian conductor Earl Lee serves as Assistant Conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Music Director of the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra.
