Event description

Advance Base (Chicago, IL) returns to Victoria supporting his latest record Horrible Occurrences (2024), alongside Toronto based alt-country artist Little Kid and the homespun dream-pop of Niloo (Victoria) at Little Fernwood on Sunday March 9th, 2025. Advance Base (Chicago, IL): Advance Base is the story-song synth-pop project of Chicago, IL singer/songwriter Owen Ashworth (formerly of Casiotone for the Painfully Alone). Using a two-handed arsenal of electric piano, Omnichord, samplers, effect pedals & drum machines, Ashworth builds minimalist, heavy-hearted, & nostalgia-obsessed ballads around his conversational baritone. The warm, electronic sound of Advance Base has been described as "lo-fi," "depressed" & "weirdly uplifting." Little Kid (Toronto, ON): Little Kid is a Toronto-based collaborative indie rock & alt-country project comprised of Brodie Germain (drums, guitar), Paul Vroom (bass), Megan Lunn (vocals, banjo, keyboard), Liam Cole (drums, percussion), and Kenny Boothby (vocals, guitar, piano, keyboards). Kenny Boothby founded the Little Kid project in 2009, self-releasing soft-spoken, homespun solo recordings that slowly attracted a passionately devoted fanbase as the project evolved into a propulsive & dynamic live band & recording collective. Niloo (Victoria, BC): Uniquely otherworldly and humming with fuzzy nostalgia, Niloo blends shoegaze, dream pop, folk and pre-revolution Iranian pop into a fabric of sound. Both a musician and visual artist, Niloo explores these mediums from her home in Lekwungen Territory (Victoria BC). Venue / Accessibility Details: This is an indoor event, located at 1923 Fernwood Rd (Paul Phillips Hall) Street parking is limited and located on surrounding streets Located on the #22 bus route Wheelchair accessible ground-level venue and washroom.
