Event description
curio. noun. ˈkyu̇r-ē-ˌō : an object or article valued because it is strange or rare.
A curio cabinet is a specialised type of display case, for presenting collections of curios, like figurines or other interesting objects that invoke curiosity, and perhaps share a common theme.
cabaret. noun. ˈkæb.ə.reɪ : a performance of popular music, singing, or dancing, especially in a restaurant or bar.
And thus, in our case, the Curio Cabaret is a displayed collection of live art, from bizarre to beautiful, carefully curated by Bronwyn MacLeod. This one-of-a-kind variety show features a range of performances that will provoke, intrigue, and entertain - from live music, to theatre and beyond, in an intimate, immersive, and intentional environment.
This rendition of Curio Cabaret brings together a wide array of performers and musicians - plan to be serenaded by soulful guitars and vocals, dazzled by mesmerizing flow arts, enchanted by graceful dance and movement, and captivated by the quick wit of improv theatre! Our clever and elegant host, Devaiya, will carry us through the evening.
Guests will enjoy the show in a relaxed, seated venue, at the Paul Phillips Hall in Victoria, BC, from 3:00-6:00 pm, and 7:00-10:00 pm on April 12th. This event is about slowing down, engaging deeply with art, and connecting with performers in a way that is as active and intentional as their craft. Curio Cabaret offers a fresh way to experience the magic of live performance in a setting designed for deep appreciation.Come for the art, stay for the experience, and be part of something truly unique.
