This three-hour workshop with Kimber , the owner of Ashtanga Yoga Victoria , is designed to be your jumpstart into the Ashtanga tradition, focusing on Surya Namaskar A + B (Sun Salutations) and the 11 Standing Foundations that form the cornerstone of the practice.
In this workshop, Kimber will guide you through the fundamental movements and breath coordination that make up the core of Ashtanga Yoga. You’ll learn how to move with intention and awareness, discovering how to connect your hands, feet, breath, and mind in each asana.
What to Expect:
- Surya Namaskar A + B: You will break down the Sun Salutations to understand the alignment, breath count, and sequencing. These foundational sequences will serve as a core part of your daily practice.
- The 11 Standing Foundations: Kimber will take you through the essential principles of standing postures, teaching you how to align and engage your body for strength, balance, and flexibility.
- Vinyasa Count & Breath: Learn the Ashtanga vinyasa count and how it’s linked to your breath, creating a moving meditation that deepens your connection to your practice.
- Self-Practice: Gain confidence in learning how to move through these sequences independently, preparing you for the Mysore-style practice where you will begin to flow through the postures on your own.
This workshop is ideal for anyone who is new to Ashtanga Yoga, especially those who may have had some previous Vinyasa training or have completed the 4-Week Beginner's Program at Ashtanga Yoga Victoria.
