Event description

Join RAVEN in person as we celebrate and learn more about our newest campaign in partnership with Mowachaht-Muchalaht First Nation (MMFN) to reclaim Aboriginal title and protect healthy forests. At this special event, we’ll hear from Chief Maquinna and Chief Jack of MMFN about the new legal challenge that is advancing Aboriginal title claim to protect their territory from unsustainable forest practices and, as a result, mitigate the effects of climate change. Following remarks from the Chiefs, we’ll hear from representatives of Salmon Parks – an Indigenous-led forest conservation initiative to protect salmon on MMFN's territory – and the Wilderness Committee, who has been working closely with MMFN in protecting their territory. To close the night, there will be games, musical performances, and light refreshments! Location: Esquimalt Gorge Pavilion, Victoria, B.C. When: April 29th Time: 6pm-9pm
